Houseboats 1

American service personnel, when on rest leave to Kashmir, could at Srinigar, rent houseboats such as this one for very reasonable prices ($10 per week) compete with a housekeeping and transport services. The boats were able to be moved from spot to spot by a man with a long pole, shoving against the lake bottom. Srinigar, Kashmir, spring 1945
