The Recumbent Vishnu and the Creation of Brahma

The subject presented here with both simplicity and lyrical elegance is the creation myth of the Hindus, which was particularly popular with Pahari patrons, both as an individual study or as an illustration to the “Bhagavatapurana.” As there is no text on the back, this picture may have been meant to stand on its own.
