Sugriva’s Farewell

In this illustration from the “Ramayana,” Rama, colored blue, faces the prostrate form of the monkey Sugriva. Rama has established an alliance with Sugriva, who bids him farewell before departing for his kingdom. The standing white-skinned figure is Rama’s brother Lakshmana.
