Freight hauling vessels

Two, human-propelled freight hauling vessels used on the Hooghly River, Calcutta, 1945. This appears to be on a tidal affected tributary, most likely Tolly’s Nulla near the Kali Temple. Long, bamboo poles stowed aboard were used to shove the boats along by being pushed into the river bottom. Muddy banks show this to be at low tide
