Evening in the women’s quarters

Four women are playing a board game in a spacious courtyard of a palace. The woman in the front right has three oblong dice in hand, ready to roll. The woman to her right is leaning against a roller cushion. She is the main lady. The game played here is called Chaupar or Pacisi. It is night, but there are lamps everywhere to illuminate the terrace. In the background, an immense amount of lights are placed on the walls of the city. probably the Islamic festival Shab-i-Barat is celebrated here.
