Anti-aircraft tracer shells

Anti-aircraft gun tracer shells leave 4th of July type streaks in the sky over Akyab Island, Burma, during Japanese aircraft raid on the island’s harbor. This photo was made by placing the camera on a box, opening the shutter and leaving it that way for duration of the attack. The harbor is about three miles from the 40th Photo Recon Squadron’s rice paddy air strip. There was no damage on the airstrip. Spring, 1945
