A Ghulām or bath attendant of the Shūdra caste. To a customer in a Mughal-inspired bath-house he is providing snehana and svedana: these are two Ayurvedic procedures, of which the former includes external oil massage to nourish the “nervous system”, while the latter applies hot steam to flush out the “toxins”.
