Umed Singh of Bundi with his Sons

Umed Singh ruled the state of Bundi, in Rajasthan, during the eighteenth century. Paintings made during his reign show an interest in dramatic compositions, seen here in the placement of the figures— his sons and grandsons—which extend over the decorative borders and into the margins.
